In today’s busy world, I see people rushing about, grabbing food on the go, gulping it down, and moving on to the next task. Then there are probably many others who don’t feel they even have the time to stop and grab the “on-the-go” food. Is this you? Are you running on caffeine or perhaps you think that cup of yogurt you quickly consumed is enough to hold you until dinner?
Our bodies are amazing in terms of the abuse they can tolerate. You may not have any apparent health problems or conditions ~ but does this mean you are healthy? Not necessarily. When we don’t provide decent nourishment to our bodies, they have an ability to press on. Our adrenal system kicks in and helps us to keep going. But it is not without a cost. Over-using our adrenal system has serious consequences, especially if it is chronic.
And what about our mental health? Is your mental health not tied directly to how nourished your body is? From my own experience, I believe that our mental and emotional health is most definitely connected to our physical well-being and strength.
I encourage you to take inventory of how you are caring for your body and mind and see if there is any room for improvement. Can you eat something earlier in the morning and get your metabolism started sooner? How about eating at least three meals a day and including lots of FRESH foods versus processed, packaged, and fast foods? Are you drinking any water during the day? Can you slowly back off the caffeine?
Try doing at least one of these things for the next week and then maybe you will want to do more. You are worth it and it WILL make a difference!
